This isn't the experience for everyone, but I'll lay out my experience. I grew up in an extremely religious group. (Cult doesnt really describe it, but it was an extreme catholic organization.) I've always felt not fully human my entire life, always feeling like I was supposed to be something more. When I was 12 or so I discovered the otherkin community and found out what angelkin was and had a realization. Yeah that's me. I'm an angel. Very specifically an animal based upon harpy eagles. When I (unfortunatly) watched hazbin, I saw Lute and her experiences, and I had a similar feeling. Thats me. I'm her. We are one in the same. Do I understand that on a physical level im not lute? Absolutely. But on an emotional and mental level I absolutely am. I have severe and continuous nightmares about the experiences she went through. I dont really know how to explain it. Its more of a When you know you know thing. Its a common human experience to latch onto characters you like, and to adopt their mannerisms. I guess this is that just amplified to 1000. You can take a read of this carrd [https://irlsexplained.carrd.co/], I dont really agree with most of it but its the best resource I could find. I hope this explains at least a little bit!!
